Our Story

We Believe Every Woman & Girl Deserves to Push Forward.

Push Girls Foundation is a community-based nonprofit in Choma District, Southern Province of Zambia. We work directly with women and girls in underserved communities to break cycles of poverty, inequality, and exclusion.

Our flagship projects — Talitha Kumi (tutoring & empowerment) and Totally Coded (girls in tech) — go beyond awareness to deliver real, on-the-ground transformation in Choma.

We are a proud partner of Global Changemakers, recognising our founder Mirriam Ngoma as a youth leader driving lasting change across Zambia.

Our Campaign

Period Without Poverty.

In Choma District, thousands of girls miss school every month because they cannot afford sanitary products. Push Girls Foundation is fighting to end period poverty — keeping girls in class, informed, and empowered.

What We Do

Our Six Pillars of Change

Every pillar represents a real barrier faced by women and girls in Choma District. We tackle them all.

Education📚
Education
We visit schools across Choma District, mentor girls, and advocate for those facing exclusion — including girls with albinism and disabilities.
  • School outreach and girl-child mentorship
  • Support for girls with albinism & disabilities
  • Advocacy to eliminate educational barriers
Health🏥
Health & Menstrual Hygiene
Period poverty keeps thousands of girls out of school. We distribute reusable sanitary pads and run health education to keep girls safe and in class.

Economic Empowerment💼
Economic Empowerment
Financial independence transforms families. We run skills training and income-generation programs so women in Choma can build real economic security.
  • Vocational skills and entrepreneurship
  • Women's savings and cooperative groups
  • Market linkages and livelihood support
SRH💜
Sexual & Reproductive Health
We educate girls and women on their bodies, rights, family planning, and staying safe — creating safe spaces for honest conversations and support.
  • SRH awareness and education sessions
  • Safe spaces for questions and referrals
  • Prevention of early pregnancy and GBV
ICT💻
ICT & Digital Skills
Through Totally Coded, we introduce girls in rural Zambia to technology, coding, and online opportunities — closing the digital gender gap in Choma.
  • Computer and smartphone literacy
  • Internet safety and digital citizenship
  • Coding and online tools for business
Climate🌱
Climate Change
Women are most affected by climate change yet least heard. We engage communities on climate resilience, sustainable livelihoods, and environmental advocacy.
  • Climate awareness and community education
  • Sustainable agriculture training
  • Environmental advocacy initiatives
